Chianti Lovers – Previews of Tuscany 2019 – second day: our best tastings

best tastings

Chianti Lovers is the event that occupies the second day of the Anteprime di Toscana . The 2019 edition, aired yesterday in Florence at the Fortezza da Basso, recorded a huge turnout in the afternoon.

But great success was also recorded in the section dedicated to the press, with a large participation of Italian and foreign journalists.

Already last year at the center of the event in addition to Chianti (not the Classic one, which will find today and tomorrow its appointment at the Leopolda in Chianti Classico Collection ) we find the Morellino di Scansano.

We tasted about 200 wines in total. We were therefore able to get an idea of the new vintages.

Let’s start with Chianti . Presented the base wines of the vintage 2018 , the Chianti Superiore (or special selections) of the 2017 vintage and finally the Chianti Riserva 2016 .

The 2018 appears to be a fairly convincing year with half of the producers who have interpreted it to the fullest (even with peaks of real excellence), and the other half which on average has achieved fair results.

2017 looks like a year of not easy reading even if some labels really amazed us (in particular some Chianti Rùfina)

The Reserve 2016, on the other hand, would already seem to give rise to fresh and pleasant wines, juicy and centered on fruit and elegance.

Here is the list of our best tastings:

Chianti Superiore 2017 – Castello del Trebbio

Chianti Riserva 2016 – Fattoria Lavacchio
